We are halfway plus through winter. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel – at least I can see it for longer every day!

We are looking forward to a busy March and spring session. March Break camp is coming up and as always our success depends on our students. If you want to help and are interested in working with kids – join us as a counsellor or CIT. The farm is the best place to spend a holiday!

Lots of activities are in the works for 2017. Read on and be sure to join us!

Connecting With Horses

We are offering an interesting new program called Connecting with Horses. Anne Gage will be teaching us all about body language and communicating with the horse. It starts Monday, March 6 at 6:30 and runs for four weeks. Check out the board for more information. A great opportunity – don’t miss it!

Rider Levels

Are you interested in getting your Rider Levels? The Provincial organization offers 10 rider levels which is the system we follow. Once you are trotting independently and can ride circles you can start taking the tests. Check out horse.on.ca for more information and to join the Ontario Equestrian Federation. Testing is open only to its members. If you are interested in taking the test, let us know and we will offer some preparatory classes to get you more than ready!

Show Team

It’s that time of year to think about the CES Show Team. We are considering offering the show experience to some Beginner riders this year. As long as you are trotting independently and can ride circles and some basic school figures you might be eligible to join us. Talk to your coach or Susan for more information. Watch the board for a Show Team meeting notice.

Pegasus

The Pegasus Program is starting March 12. It runs for 10 weeks and as always, we need volunteers. It is a fantastic opportunity to get your community hours if you are a student, or just to give back to your community. Parents who want to contribute are always welcome too!

Coaching Course

If you are interested in joining our coaching program, we are planning the summer coaching course for the week of July 3rd to July 7th. Talk to Susan if you want more details. It’s a very rewarding and informative week!

Summer Camps

The summer is going to be pretty busy with camps with the YMCA and our regular CES camps. We are considering offering a counsellor and coaches camp for the final week of the summer – Aug 28th. There will be a sign-up sheet for CIT’s and counsellors to help out during the camps. Between camps and shows, it’s going to be a full summer!

Fee increase

Sadly fees will have to go up this spring. If you are riding in February the increase will be effective April 1st. Otherwise they go up effective March 1st. But for all you hardy winter riders, you can get the old rate till April 🙂 The new rate sheets are available in the barn, on the website or ask your coach.

Thanks again to all of my wonderful students and families. Thanks for being here to share our amazing horses and all the horse love they bring!
